4 Simple Ways to Look Slimmer With Clothes

Want to give the illusion that you are ten pounds lighter? Then read on to discover some simple strategies that will help you achieve this very goal.

#1 – Wear Dark Colours

As you may have heard, wearing the colour black can have a slimming effect. However, you do not have to limit yourself to a “black only” wardrobe as other dark colours can have a slimming effect as well. Consequently, feel free to wear dark colours that can include dark browns, charcoals and navy. Further, if you do have a shorter stature, you should think about wearing dark colours on the lower half of your body as this style of dress gives one the illusion of extra height.

#2 – Wear Clothes That Fit

Sounds simple enough doesn’t it? However, you would be surprised at the number of people that wear clothes that are either too large or too small for them. Those individuals who wear baggy clothes often do so in an attempt to hide extra weight. However, in actuality, the baggy clothes make them look about ten pounds larger on average. Not exactly what you want! Conversely, people who wear clothes that are too tight do so as they want to convince themselves that they can fit into a smaller size of clothes. That said, in actuality, this look highlights any type of flaw that they may have. If these people, instead, wore clothes that fit them, they will exude a polished and confident look.

#3 – Choose the Proper Fabrics

Under no circumstances should you wear shiny, glossy looking clothes if you wish to appear to be slimmer. Further, if you choose to wear bulky fabrics over body parts that you are trying to “hide”, you will only make this area appear (you guessed it!) … bulkier. Instead, you should choose less bulky fabrics – with a more forgiving matte finish – that gently skim over your body.

#4 – Keep It Simple

Keeping your attire sleek and simple is key if you wish to achieve that “slimmer” look. That said, if you love colour and patterns, you could still wear these types of garments as well. However, if you do wear patterns, you should always choose patterns where little of the background colour shows. Further, you should always choose a pattern with a darker background colour – instead of a lighter background colour. Additionally, if you simply cannot live without bright colours in your wardrobe, you can wear a bright coloured top under a suit for example.

Well there you go! Now you are well on your way to achieving a more sleek and professional look.
